French is the official language of the International Red Cross

In 1962 Leopold Sédar Senghor founded « francophonie » to promote French as a world language
and French culture.
France, Canada, Belgium and Swtizerland have been financing French language for many years and defending French against the widespread of English in business and economics all around the world.

In 2005 the Carta for French as a world language was signed to give more coherence and weight for promoting French.
